Social Work Department

About Us

The programme offers knowledge, skills and values for professional commitment among the students. The students are equipped to work with a diverse group of people, execute a wide range of social welfare activities and work for their continuing professional development through inclusive practice. The curriculum includes three major components namely theory, field work and research. The uniqueness of Social Work Education lies in its concurrent field work practice. The purpose of field work is to provide the student an interface between classroom education and actual practice in social work agencies.

The field work is structured to provide students practical experience in various Human Service Organizations and Government Bodies under the stringent guidance of the faculty. The Department considers education as means of social change and transformation through the integration of theory and practice. The department collaborates with international, national and local organizations for field action projects, research and training.
