A Pass in B.Sc., Chemistry and Food Technology / Nutrition from recognized Universities. Student of Science subjects namely Botany, Zoology, Physics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Bio Technology, can also be admitted. The upper age limit is 35 years.
The course offered for both male and female and the medium of instruction is English. Exams will be in semester pattern.

The Department has been conducting 'Pulavar Vizha' for the past 8 years to honour distinguished Tamil Scholars. It also publishes a bi-annual magazine which is a collection of articles and campus.
The Department of English was established in 2005 offering Part II English, and then in 2010, offered B.A. English. Later, in 2011 the department was the first to offer M.A. English outside of Madras city. The M.Phil Course was started in 2015.
The department is now elevated to a full-fledged research department with part-time and full-time scholars. It has a well equipped library and computer aided language laboratory.
The English Club publishes a bi-annual magazine providing a space for creative contributions from staff and students. The faculty members of this department actively engage themselves in translation work and writing critiques on various literary books in Tamil and English.
The department of Mathematics was established in the year 2007 and upgraded as a postgraduate department in 2009. The department of Mathematics comprises highly qualified and dedicated faculty members specialized in diverse areas such as Graph theory, Analysis, Algorithmic Graph Theory, Differential Equations and Topology.

The department was established in 2001. It offers B.Sc., M.Sc. courses. In 2005, it became a Research Centre and started M.Phil in 2008.
Around 30 scholars are working in various areas of Chemistry for their doctoral programmes. The department has signed a MoU with multiple companies. It offers a consultancy service in FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) Spectrometer, UV and water analysis as well as Molecular Modeling.

There is an equal focus on theory and practice with the integration of The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) syllabus in Master of Finance and Control (MFC) curriculum. The Department of Biochemistry was instituted in 2015. Biochemistry is the point where chemistry, biology and medicine meets and it deals with the molecular interactions between various intra and inter cellular compartments of living organisms and diseases.
Biochemistry also contributes to protecting the environment, by combating pollution and designing biocompatible products. The genetic engineering of plants has led to advances in agriculture which include crop improvement and resistance to pest and diseases.
